“Acting is so new to me. It was so much fun and it was shot here in Oklahoma, which was so cool because it was my very first movie,” Darci Lynne said. Darci Lynne also co-wrote the song “Just Breathe” for the film. “I started singing long before I started ventriloquism. It’s always been so near and dear to my heart, and I just started writing music in quarantine. Once that started happening, I came to like it so much. To release an album, I think that’s definitely one of my goals, of course,” she continued.

In A cowgirl song, Darci Lynne plays Brooke, a young barrel racer who permanently injured her legs in a car accident. Darci Lynne was drawn to Brooke’s “super inspirational” story. “She had been knocked down and had lost her confidence and everything. I want to get that confidence back and trusting each other is something that people go through every day, so being able to bring that to the screen was super exciting for me,” Darci Lynne revealed. “I was nervous because it’s a very serious role for my first movie, but I was excited to tackle it for sure.”

In the film, Darci Lynne works alongside Savannah Lee May. “We immediately clicked and became great friends while filming, like on set and off set. She was so supportive. I was asking her a lot of questions and stuff and she was answering them. I was probably so annoying, but she was great about it and had advice for me,” said the AGT noted alum.

Although having won AGT in 2017, Darci Lynne is only 17 years old. Now that she’s dabbled in acting, Darci Lynne is opening herself up to more opportunities outside of ventriloquism.

“Obviously I love ventriloquism. I’ve been doing it for almost 8 years now. I still want to see ventriloquism and enjoy it because it got me to where I am now, and I love doing it. But he there’s so many other things I want to explore,” Darci Lynne admitted. “So I wouldn’t say give up ventriloquism or anything, but branch out for sure, especially with the game acting and writing music because those two things are super passionate.”

Right now Darci Lynne is about to finish her My lips are sealed (except when they’re not) tour in August. Once the tour was over, Darci Lynne revealed to HollywoodLife that it “is going to slow down the touring aspect of my life a bit just because I’ve been doing it for 5 years now. I just want to slow down a bit because next year is my senior year of high school, which is so weird. I’m just going to do it step by step. I would say next year will be the year for me to really explore music and acting, for sure, especially after high school. I don’t know if I will go to university. »

For the past 5 years, Darci Lynne has lived what she calls “the real life Hanna Montana.“She worked hard to balance a normal life with the fame she enjoyed afterAGT. “After I won, I still went to public school,” Darci Lynne said. “I was in eighth grade at the time. I won and I came home and went to college. It was such a weird time, but I didn’t want to leave Oklahoma. I didn’t I didn’t just want to completely change my life and homeschool and stuff. I wanted to go back to school. That’s what I wanted. It’s been a balance of trying to find some normalcy in my life and teenager, but also doing these incredible things that I never imagined I could do.
