  • Laxmikant Berde was previously married to two prominent actors in the Marathi film industry namely Roohi Berde and Priya Arun.
  • Laxmikant Berde has mainly worked alongside director-actor Mahesh Kothare or with actor Ashok Saraf. More so, Laxmikant Berde’s pair with actor Ashok Saraf are often recognized as the most successful lead actor pair in Marathi cinema, considering the blockbuster movies they have delivered together.
  • It is a less well-known fact that before starting his acting career, Laxmikant Berde worked as an employee in the Marathi Sahitya Sangh.

Laxmikant’s career

Over the course of his career, Berde starred in more than 185 films and is said to have received four nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comedy Role. More so, the actor also ran his own production house called Abhinay Arts, which is named after his son Abhinay Berde. The actor died in Mumbai on December 16, 2004 from kidney disease. He was last seen in the highly acclaimed film Marathi, Pachadlela.
