She-Hulk Head Writer Debunks Final Post-Credits Scene About Wong Going To “Another Show”

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the season finale of She-Hulk: Lawyer (now streaming on Disney+).

It has now become a tradition for a Marvel Cinematic Universe end credits scene to wow fans about new characters, upcoming projects, and general speculation about the future of the franchise. And all season She-Hulk: Lawyer toyed with what could be a Marvel post-credits scene in more than half of the episodes, subverting expectations and instead using end tags in a comedic fashion. However, the finale’s post-credits scene has a line in which fans theorize the future in a very traditional Marvel way, so EW got to the bottom of what that means. And in real She-Hulk fashion is not what you expect!

After the episode 9 credits end, a final scene plays out where Sorcerer Supreme Wong (Benoit Wong) breaks Emil BlonskyTim Roth out of his prison cell after violating his parole by turning into an Abomination despite being equipped with an Inhibitor (only for certain paid appearances, so as not to wreak evil havoc). Wong opens a portal and brings his old cage fighting buddy to move in with him in Kamar-Taj, which Blonsky was clearly expecting since he had already packed his bags and asked Wong what had taken so long. “You got sucked into another show, didn’t you?” Blonsky asks Wong, who blames “peak TV” for the delay.

While fans have speculated that this line means Wong could be seen again in another Marvel TV show, She-Hulk: Lawyer Editor Jessica Gao debunks this theory and confirms it was not referring to the MCU at all.

“It was just funny because we had this running joke that he was still watching TV, because he was learning about American pop culture late in life, he had a lot to catch up on,” Gao told EW. “So he just gorged on all the prestige television that was available to him.”

Hey, who can blame him?
