AMESBURY – Ventriloquist singer and puppeteer Lesley Smith will perform at Unity on the River, 58 Macy St.

The church’s 10 a.m. Motown music service is open to all faiths and features Smith, a resident of Durham, New Hampshire, and singer-songwriter of the Foundation’s Touring Artists Program for the arts of New England.

Smith travels the world in a bid to spread love, laughter and the power of the heart as a comedic singing ventriloquist with his many characters, according to a press release.

Her inspirational speech, “Heart Powered Miracles: A Love Journey on the Lighter Side,” features music from Motown with Maura Lynch, Alex Valente, a full choir and a four-piece band.

Smith has performed in New England schools and regional theaters for over 20 years, including the Regent Theater, Portsmouth Music Hall, Firehouse Center for the Arts, and Seacoast Repertory Theater.

His shows featuring Sammy Snail have focused on the themes of bullying and violence prevention.

Sammy Snail received the Sarah Farmer Peace Award in 2010 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and was featured in a television pilot filmed on New Hampshire Public Television in 2013, “Sammy’s New World”.

As a playwright and performer, Smith toured the United States with his solo musical show “Just Breathe: The Quest for a Little Piece of Mind and Chocolate” and “Sammy Snail’s Puppet Pajama Party for Young Families”.

Smith combines a life of training and experience in spiritual healing, conflict resolution, and transformational entertainment to deliver programming for all ages and demographics. For more information, www.lesleysmithproductions.com
