Two artists who managed to fool Penn & Teller will take the stage at the Chilliwack Cultural Center for Shawn Farquhar’s show Cabaret of Wonders later this month.

This magical series has drawn an extraordinary assortment of artists to the Cultural Center and this time world-class magicians Damien James and Trevin Hannibal will join Farquhar for the 17th installment of the Cabaret of Wonders January 17th.

Performing for the first time at Cabaret of Wonders, magician and ventriloquist Damien James brings his unique brand of comedy to Chilliwack. James appeared on Penn & Teller: Dupe us where he indeed deceived the duo with a pair of Penn and Teller puppets. When not pursuing his gigs of magic and ventriloquism, James often works on shows filmed in the Lower Mainland, such as Super girl, Sparkle, Arrow, Legends of tomorrow and more.

Trevin Hannibal is a magician from Sri Lanka who will perform his own style of “serious comedy” associated with illusions and magic. Hannibal was the finalist magician of the Youth with Talent competition in Sri Lanka in 2018/19 out of 71,852 participants and is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Along with his success in the talent competition, Hannibal was also invited to direct his own program on Sri Lanka’s main television network.

“It’s a great place to experience the magic. You can participate as much or as little as you want. You can sit in the back in the dark to watch the show, or you can sit in the front and hope to be chosen to be a part of the show, ”said Farquhar. “There are no camera tricks, and everything is happening in front of you, so the magic you will experience is real.”

Shawn Farquhar 17th Century Cabaret des Merveilles arrives at the Chilliwack Cultural Center on January 17 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $ 25 and can be purchased at the Centre’s box office, online at www.chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or by calling 604-391-SHOW (7469).
